TRAIL

With hundreds of miles of trails at your disposal, your adventure trail is waiting for you all year round.  Whether you want to undertake a long expedition or a quick hike, you will find an infinite number of options and levels of difficulty in the Allegheny Kingdom.

Tribal Code:

  • Explore with every step

  • Leave no trace

  • Honor solitude of others

  • Get lost and find yourself

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location and sign the logbook. Cache placement guidance from Geocaching.com recommends that cachers hide their caches in locations that are important to them, reflecting a special interest of the cache owner such as a prime camping spot, great viewpoint, unusual location, etc.

Geocaching can be done individually or as a group. Members of the informal local “club”, Johnstown-Altoona Geocaching Association (JAGA) periodically host “event” geocaches where individual cachers will meet for lunch and then go out caching as groups.
